Long Time Photographer Enjoying His Passion

I have been doing photography for 14 years. Most of the pictures that I have taken were publish in the school’s newspaper or my website. Have I thought I would be doing this for a long time? I did not think this would last for a very long time. Within the years of my photography experience I have done black & white film and now I am using a digital SLR camera which I own two of the best brand name cameras.

My brother let me use his camera when I first took a class at my high school in 1996. I was only going to take the class for one year but I decided to take an advance course the following year. What surprise me was that the high school newspaper was looking for a photographer for the next year which I took the position. It took me to new heights which got the college newspaper to recruit me. Afterward the photography has taken me to great heights.

I got a job selling cameras at the Good Guys my first year in college in 1999. It was an alright experience. I didn’t enjoy working there since I had to learn how to sell video products like televisions. Nine years later in May of 2009 I got promoted to photo at Sam’s Club. It stuck me because I did not expect to be move into a department that I was familiar with especially I only knew how to develop black & white film. Luckily it was an easy job to do since they had machines that would develop the color film. I also knew my cameras since I work at the Good Guys.

Do I enjoy photography? Yes I love photography. Do I love helping people with photography? I love helping people but I have to get away with ones that get on my nerves. I’m sorry but there are people that abuse me. They always rely on me with my help. I show them how to do it but they still ask for my help.

I do want to be a photographer at a magazine or newspaper. I know that I would have to travel around the area taking pictures. I even want to have my own photo studio where people would allow me to take a picture of them. I want my pictures to be recognized by others. It is a passion that I love to do.

Fall Semester 2010

It has been a long time since I posted up a blog. I have been busy with work and also been too lazy to post anything up.

I started the Fall Semester (second year) at San Francisco State University Wednesday, August 25. I got all the classes that I need to take. This semester I am taking four classes which equal up to 12 units. I’m taking three Asian American Studies courses and an Anthropology class. The only day that I have all four classes is Monday. I am stuck at SFSU the entire Monday from 9:35 in the morning until 9:45 at night. Luckily I have a break from 12:25 til 4:10.

Am I excited that I am taking four classes up to 12 units? I didn’t want to do it but my advising counselor told me that I had to if financial aid was going to pay for my courses. Luckily this semester I am only on campus two days (Monday and Wednesday). The rest of the other days that I am not at San Francisco I am working at Sam’s Club.

Does the commute driving to San Francisco and going to Concord exhaust me? Yes it does. I wake up 5:30 in the morning to get on the freeway to beat traffic going toward the Bay Bridge. What sucks is that I have to pay $6 for toll. Commuting from San Francisco to Concord is also a drag. I have to beat traffic before 2 to get through the tunnel. At least one thing out of this is that my car gets great mileage

What is my goal for the semester? I want to succeed in all my classes. All I need to do is stay focus and not lose any concentration. There are a few things that I need to not do which is stay off of Facebook and YouTube. I have to learn how to use great time management. There are days that I work early or work later. I need to use that time to do homework. I also need to take advantage of my days that I am neither at work nor at school. That is the only way that I will succeed this semester.

Website Up

I’m happy to announce that I have finally put up my website on tripod.com and angelfire.com. I had two that were created in which I took it down but I decided to put it back up again. It has been a long time since I had a website up. I have not done any sites due to the population of Myspace and Facebook. I got use to promoting myself on those sites. I love doing websites. I have been making sites since July 1997. It is a passion that I enjoy doing. The reason for having a website was to promote myself and display the photos that I did. It was a way to show off my talent and to see people’s reaction. Now these days the only comment people will leave me is on Myspace and Facebook. It’s even funny because also when I post a blog on Blogger no one leaves me a comment as well.

My photography has been going slow. There are no places that I could take pictures of. I’m trying to promote myself to get someone to hire me to do their picture but I have not gotten anybody. Hopefully somebody out there needs their picture taken by me.

I Need Summer Excitement

I’m enjoying my summer break away from San Francisco State University. I’m sleeping a bit longer compare to when I was waking up early to break the morning commute to San Francisco. The only thing that I want for my summer is excitement. I haven’t experience any fun in the sun yet. What I want to do is for someone to hire me to do their picture. I have two digital SLR cameras that I have not used for awhile. It is a waste of money if I don’t use them. I want someone to allow me to take a picture of them. I haven’t promoted my photography skills to anyone yet. I should do by posting an advertisement on Craigslist or show them only Myspace or Facebook. I have a copyright release prepare and an agreement form that I won’t use their photo without their permission. I have to be professional about doing the picture. I don’t want to be a creep that will use the pictures on the internet. I could negotiate the price that I will be charging people. They’ll get their pictures onto a CD with a copyright release that will allow them to print the pictures at a one hour photo place like Costco or Sam’s Club. Hopefully someone will hire me to do their pictures.

Summer Time (Long Time Since I Posted A Blog)

It has been a long time since I have posted a blog. I have been very busy with San Francisco State University and Sam’s Club. My Spring Semester was a complete disaster. I had to withdrawal from all of my courses due to not keeping up with the homework. What was worse was that I work after I got off from school. I would commute to San Francisco 7 in the morning and heading out to Concord at 1 in the afternoon. Did I enjoy the long commute? No I did not enjoy hitting traffic in the morning and commuting to the other side of the Bay Area in the afternoon. I wish my job understood my situation and allow me to have a set schedule where I could only work certain days. Attending a state university college is more important than working at my job but I need the money that will pay for my commute. I want to begin my Fall Semester a fresh start. Hopefully my job will hire someone instead of them relying on me a lot. I want to finish college and have a job that pays me well.

Mind, Crises, Lost

Another week has gone by where I feel like it is going by quickly. Somehow it is like the semester is going to be done soon. Maybe it is a sign that I want to get the semester finish and have a well deserve break. I did get one month off in between fall and spring semester. Having a summer break for two months will rest my head and I could be prepare for the next semester.

I been going through a tough crises. Lately I have not been enjoying myself when I go out to places. I get bored easily not wanting to go out with a friend. I have lost interest of having fun. On Thursday in a long time that I finally got a day off from both Sam’s Club and SFSU. I wanted to do the assignments for my classes but a friend of mine who manage to remember that I was off today ask me if I wanted to hang out with her. I accepted to hang out with her but I was bored when I saw her. It wasn’t like me to not have fun with my friend. Something has change in me to not have fun. I would have to say from all the long hours I been doing at both Sam’s Club and SFSU must had made lost. Sam’s Club is giving me another two weeks in which one of the days off that I am not at SFSU. I’m going to take advantage of having a fun time but I should do my assignment first.

I want to find a person around my age that I can get along with. I have a hard time finding someone who is between the age of 28-32. I might be looking at the wrong places to meet people. I go to bookstores, coffee shops, and bars to try to meet people but it does not work. These people are probably at work or raising their family. I just feel alone and want people I can get along with. I don’t want to be alone and suffer from depression.

February Already?

I can’t believe it is already February. Time does fly fast and you don’t expect it to come by quickly.

I am glad that I have made it through the first week of the semester. It is starting to get challenge which I was expecting to happen. I love challenges. I just need to stay on track in order for me to be successful this semester. I cannot fail and I refuse to do so.

I have been getting questions from people asking me why I drive to San Francisco instead of taking BART. There is a good explanation on why I drive. It is because I bring a lot of books with me plus I also bring my notebook computer. It would be hard for me to bring my bags if I take BART. With a car I can go everywhere I want to if I don’t want to stay on campus the entire day. Also I have to go straight to work on certain days. Luckily my parents are paying for my gasoline.

Is it hard for me to wake up early to avoid hitting rush hour traffic? Yes it can be difficult. I have a hard time waking up early. I use three alarm clocks to wake me up. I woke up at 5:30, I leave the house by 6, stop by the Starbucks in Daly City before I head to campus, and study before my first class begins at 9:10. It can be hard to follow my schedule but I need to do so if I want to avoid heavy traffic.
