First Week Of SFSU Spring Semester

The first day of the Spring Semester at San Francisco State University went pretty good even though it was raining. I arrive on campus at 7:30. Funny was that I thought the semester begun on a Friday, not a Monday. I went on campus on Friday noticing that I was probably the only student on campus as I walk into an empty Student Union Building (either students forget that there are classes on Friday or just staying indoors due to the weather). A faculty staff told me that the semester begun on Monday, not Friday. I felt like a total idiot. Thankfully I bought my books while it was not a mad rush.

My schedule this semester is crazy. I’m on campus here Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Monday I am on campus 9am until 9:45pm. I have English at 9 and Asian American Studies at 12:10 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Monday night I have Journalism at 7:10 until 9:45 (I am not excited to have a evening class). On Friday I have another Journalism course at 10:10. Luckily the course is online which we only meet a total of three meetings plus if I have any questions I could visit the instructor during their office hours. All together I have a total of 10 units this semester.

What is also scary is that I have to work Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. That is a total of five days a week at Sam’s Club. There are weeks that I have to work on a Wednesday. Does this mean that I am going to be exhausted? Yes. Am I taking a huge risk of taking a four courses and working five days a week? Yes. I have no choice due to two people in my department that does not want to close on a Friday night and plus my manager is getting on my case on working more hours. The store can only afford having three people in my department, which is putting a lot of pressure on me. I have to leave San Francisco by 1 in order for me to get to Concord by 3. I have to avoid traffic and accidents on the freeway for me to make it on time.

I wish I could find a new job but with the busy schedule that I have created it would be impossible to go out there and get an interview. Plus I can’t be well dress while I am on campus and rush to an interview, sweaty in traffic. I have done it before when I was attending Diablo Valley College. I don’t think it would be possible to do that again.

Hopefully I can handle being crazy this semester. I have to survive in order for me to finish SFSU. It is going to take a lot of effort for me to do well (I refuse to drop any of my courses).

New Year Resolution

It has been awhile since I posted up a blog. I have been very busy with San Francisco State University. My first semester at SFSU went smooth. I started out with three courses but I had to drop two of them since I knew for a fact that I was not going to pass. I did pass my only class with a C-. It wasn’t too bad even though my first semester GPA was a 1.70. I think I could do much better once spring semester begins. I just need to focus on my studies and not worry too much on my job. Apparently I have to be flexible around my schedule. I am part time but I feel like I am working full time. The company can’t afford to hire another person for my department. It is odd since when I first started at my job that they had four people working in my department. As of now there are only three people including myself.

Here is my plan for 2010. I’ll be turning 30 this year. What I want to do is start 30 fresh. So my plan to begin 30 is to write an autobiography of myself. What got me to do this is that did an oral report on my father for Asian American Studies. It got me thinking that I want to do something creative before I turn 30 in October. I promise myself that I would do an autobiography on myself when I was 20 but it never got materialize. I had an unique odd life during my 20’s. I just thought it was time for me to look back at my past. I’m leaving my 20’s and entering my 30’s. I also have plans on keeping up with my blogs plus work on my website. I have been debating if I want to do a blog site and a photo site. I have not gotten far enough on what I want to do yet.

Stay tune for the next blog on Friday January 7
