Happy, Exhausted, Going Crazy

I stop by my old college in Pleasant Hill (Diablo Valley College) Thursday Afternoon. I have not stop by DVC since Spring 2009 (my last semester before transferring to San Francisco Fall 2009). The place is improving by building a new building in between the bookstore, cafeteria, and student services center. They reconstructed the parking lot which now looks a lot better than before (they made bus stop in the lot nicer).

I have been exhausted these past days. For a guy like myself taking two courses at SFSU I did not think it would get rough. Two of my course (AAS 355 and ETHS 210) I have to find time to do volunteer work and attend events. It is not easy for me since I have a hectic schedule with my job. I am trying my best to find the time to do these. I work a five-day schedule but a four to seven half hour shift. I only attend SFSU two days a week with being Monday the only day I am on campus the entire day.

Not to be rude to any of the people that I know. I have to have time to myself. I rarely get the time to relax. I am only human and I need to be treated with respect. I cannot be there all the time. I snap at my friend Monday Night because she kept bugging me to help her out even though I had a long day in the city.

On Monday I found out that I have 24 units left until I graduate from San Francisco. I did not expect to get the good news from the advisers (at least they were straight honest with me). I am happy that I know when I can graduate. I want to finish San Francisco as soon as possible. I just need to stay focus and know that I can do it. Wish me luck on that.

Team Work Please

I swore this week went by fast. I didn’t get a chance to decide what I want to post up. I been busy doing assignments that are due in my classes. I have not even done a blog on Tumblr in which I do not know what to mention about Asian American Culture.

On Thursday I went to San Francisco to do grocery shopping with a classmate to decide what to do with our group project on Monday. She made Thai Chicken which none of us knew how to make. We didn’t know how to cook a chicken leg. We just toss the chicken in the oven broiling it for 15 minutes. It was a good meal. I felt it wasn’t a team effort due to the other six members of our group not helping out. Me and the other classmate did the hard work on what to prepare for on Monday. She did the cooking and I just did the grocery shopping with her. What funny is that We only spend $3.85 for the food. Luckily I had no class on Thursday which gave us time to get the ingredient. Hopefully by Monday we’ll get our acts together.

Not much to say in which I do apologize for.

Tumblr?

I created my first blog on Tumblr. Does this mean I will stop posting blogs on Blogger? NEVER! Blogger is my home to posting blogs weekly. It also sync with my Google account. I could share my blogs on Facebook or even Google +.

I join a student group in my Ethnic Studies course. We call ourselves Team Squirtle (the cute Pokemon character). Check it out http://theterrifyingbandits.tumblr.com/. Here is my first blog on Tumblr.

- I am a Filipino American born in San Pablo California, residing in Hercules, California.
- I have never been to the Philippines.
- I do not speak Tagalog nor do I understand the native language.
- I was born in a tradition Filipino family in which I have to take off my shoes in the house and I have to bless my grandparents.
- I am involved with Our Lady of Penafrancia.
- An amazing photographer (check out my Facebook profile)
- I played piano during high school.
- Asian American Studies Major since Spring 2010.
- Attended two different community colleges (Contra Costa College in San Pablo and Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill).
- I have a Blooger Site

What is Asian American to me? It is knowing that I am an Asian especially Filipino living in America. The Filipinos that I knew in high school where jerks calling Filipino born in the Philippines FOB (fresh outta boat). I never understood why American Born Filipinos were making fun of others on how they talk. Don’t these people know that we are all the same and not different from each other. Thankfully I was never one of those kinds of people that hated on others.

The Filipinos that were in my high school were calling themselves Asian Pacific Islander, which was basically Filipinos involve. Aren’t Japanese declare API? There was an Asian Pacific Islander club that was advised by a Chinese teacher. I wanted to join that club so badly but it had jerks thinking that they were the bomb because they spoke Tagalog that was straight up! I even had the people dissing me saying I was not Filipino and called coconut (white in the inside, brown in the outside). I never mainly declare myself Asian Pacific Islander American because I never fit the description what they were.

I would never declare myself American Asian. I was born in an Filipino family in American That would make me an Asian American or Filipino American (it what make me on who I am).

Asian-American is like two countries married to one another. The hyphen between Asian and American makes it looks like a person last name keeping the maiden name and adding the married name.

I am Asian American mainly Filipino American and it what I tell people on who I am.

Pretty neat huh? I didn’t think it was a good introduction about myself nor mention what Asian American is to me. The class is basically posting blogs on Tumblr. We don’t have books in the course. I hope that the students in my group are dedicated and not relying on others to do the work.

The two professors that I have are cool. They are very young and totally laid back compare to the others that been teaching for years. It seems like the others want to have a professor that is not old that is strict on their students. I have notice the students that are in my classes are too laid back relying to do the assignment last minute. It just seems like high school all over again. I have learn not to be slacking off. I have paid the pay on doing assignments last minute. I am a perfect example of be a slacker. The younger generations are getting worse.

I am doing to pass both classes with an “A” or “B”. No way will I get a “C” and below. I’ll be ready and passing all the classes.

Awesome Little Professor

The professor that I have Monday Night is awesome. She is around my age and teaches at University of San Francisco. She’s an outgoing woman that cares about her students and wants them to pass the course. The students in my class thought she was a student because how short and young she was (She’s probably 4’10-5’0 and does look like Joy Bisco from The Debut). I knew that she was the professor because I check out her Facebook profile (apparently a family friend took her class at USF). What is cool about her class is she is allowing students to create their own syllabus and grading scale on how the class should be graded on. All I could say about the class is that she wants students to pair up into groups and create a blog on Tumlr. A classmate of mine created a Facebook group.

This semester I am going to focus on my classes. I need to pass the class above a “C”. I manage to pass fall semester with “A’s” and “B’s”. It bought up my GPA back to a “2.0”. Let hope my group and I can get along, do an awesome blog, and get an “A” in the class.
