Final Planet Loop performance at Off the Grid Uptown Oakland

A follow up blog about Planet Loop that I wrote April 9, 2016

The last Off the Grid Uptown Oakland that Planet Loop will ever perform. Actually Planet Loop will be performing at Off the Grid Temescal because Off the Grid has relocated the market up north.

I was shock that Off the Grid has relocated the market up north in Oakland. It was a good decision that the company has ever done. I will admit Uptown Oakland is not a great location to hold an Off the Grid market. I felt that the location is not great to have people to come to. Hopefully Temescal will be a better market compare to Uptown Oakland.

Planet Loop is a great music duo that I enjoy watching. Having Jeff Hobbs to the group makes it amazing. Jeff playing the violin and trumpet with Carrie Jadhe drum and Michael Schaller bass surely sounds great. I love watching Planet Loop perform.

I was fortunate to record the performance, which turn out great. I have to admit this has to be the best video that I have ever done. The picture and sound was great. I cannot believe that I have a great video of Planet Loop performance.

Bob and Lenny Show at OMCA 06.10.16

As always I had a great time at the Oakland Museum of California last Friday. I got to see the Bob and Lenny Show. The second time that I got to see their show at the museum. The first time I saw their act was in April. Their second performance turn out to be the best performance. I really enjoy watching their performance that I even taken pictures and recorded videos.

I notice that when I did the video of their show I did not catch any attention of the people that work for OMCA. I guess when the first time I told OMCA that I would hand them the pictures and videos of the Bob and Lenny Show I did not due to accidently erasing it. I thought I had transfer them onto a hard drive which disappointed OMCA. I will say that this time I did transfer them onto a hard drive and will give OMCA onto a flash drive. Hopefully OMCA can promote Bob and Lenny Show when they come back July 8th.

I did show Lendl the photos and videos which he appreciate that I did a fantastic job. I shot a total of 22 videos but 8 of them were uploaded on YouTube. Those 8 videos that are on YouTube were amazing. I will admit that I did a great job but also I overwhelm myself by trying to get them uploaded on YouTube. The next time that I go watch the Bob and Lenny Show at OMCA I will not record much. I just watch their performance as an ordinary audience.

Bob and Lenny Show at the Oakland Museum of California should be a monthly showcase because the audience enjoy their performance. Let hope each month Lendl and Robert are doing their show at OMCA that the audience does not get tired of them.

Keith Alan Mitchell

Keith Alan Mitchell performing at Off the Grid San Anselmo June 7th

Keith Alan Mitchell performing at Off the Grid El Cerrito June 8th

My Tuesday and Wednesday was different. Here is an explanation why I said that. Plans that I had for those days were change due to a musician. I saw Keith Alan Mitchell at Off the Grid San Anselmo and Off the Grid El Cerrito. Two days seeing Keith Alan Mitchell at an Off the Grid market.

Why did I chose to watch his performances was because he was a local musician. Keith reside in Richmond, not far from where I live. He actually knows two friends of mine. Let just say that it is a small world that both him and I know the same people.

I have seen his performances before in El Cerrito and Walnut Creek. I believe his music is great and I even told him that in San Anselmo on Tuesday.

Orignally I was suppose to go to Off the Grid Serramonte on Tuesday and watch the NBA Finals at Off the Grid Pleasant Hill but plans were change because I wanted to see Keith Alan Mitchell performing at Off the Grid San Anselmo and Off the Grid El Cerrito.

Over the two days that I saw him I actually took a photo of him performing. I actually send him the photos that I took of him.

Friday Night At Oakland Museum of California

I had a great Friday Night at the Oakland Museum of California. Not only that I went to OMCA because Off the Grid was there but my friend Lendl San Jose and his friend Robert Frazier had a performance there and it was a great turn out. Their Bob and Lenny Show attracted a lot of the people that came into the museum enjoying their performance. I manage to record their performance. A total of nine videos were recorded but only three videos are posted on YouTube.

Recording the Bob and Lenny Show attracted the attention of three OMCA employees interested in the video. I am willing to give them the photos and videos with the only exception that I use them for my portfolio. I want to have something that I could show off to people that I have done that. It took me a long time to find something that I am great at and I do not want to have any conflict that will prevent me from showing them.

I am not sure how I met Lendl but I presume that it was through International Hotel Manilatown Center, Allyson Tintiangco-Cubales, Facebook, who knows. All that matters is that he is great on the ukulele and a great singer. I been getting invites to his events on Facebook that I never get the chance to attend due to work or other commitments. It was great that I got to attend this event at the Oakland Museum of California.

Bob and Lenny Show OMCA 04.15.16

IzzyA’s Frozen Custard and Ceviche & Co. were at Off the Grid Lake Merritt which also was a great turn out. Ceviche & Co. had a long line which within two hours of the event they were sold out of certain food. IzzyA’s Frozen Custard did well also. Both trucks were place on Oak St. which I thought they would do awful because they were not place on the 10th St line up with the other trucks. With the extension of more food trucks at Off the Grid did help out. People knew that there were more trucks on 10th St. and every food truck got a line.

Again I had a great Friday Night because I got to support three people and they appreciate that I did it.

Planet Loop

What do you get when you have a great drummer and a bass/guitar player? You get Carrie Jahde and Michael Schiller … Planet Loop. Two musicians that I have been watching for two years now.

The first time that I saw Planet Loop was January 29, 2014 at Off the Grid in El Cerrito. I have seen them perform in El Cerrito, North Berkeley, Emeryville Public Market, and Alameda. What I did not know was that they have been performing with Off the Grid for quite awhile before I met them (the only records that I could find from the Off the Grid Music page was January 2013).

Every time I see Planet Loop at Off the Grid I tend to take a picture of them performing including a video of their performance. Each time that I post a photo and video on Facebook and YouTube they appreciate it. I am just being nice by helping them get recognize on the internet.

I was fortunate to help Planet Loop with videos of them performing at Jupiter in Berkeley on November 2014. It was the first time that I have been ask to do a video of them at a public restaurant. It was a great experience that I did it.

I will continue watching Planet Loop performing at Off the Grid as much as I can. They are a great band to watch.

The Beautiful Voice of Castro

I got to hang out with a good friend of mine in the Castro last Friday. I will say that it was a great experience to be in the neighborhood. It’s a busy neighborhood with a lot people (gay or straight) walking around (it is San Francisco which does attract a lot of tourist).

I was helping my friend out by recording a video of her performing to people in the Castro. The video will be use to start her Kickstarter campaign. I am happy that I am helping her out with this campaign. The video will just be her performing in front of people and explaining why she is doing this Kickstarter campaign. It is something that I always wanted to do for her because it is a way to inform people on who she is, I feel that this Kickstarter will be a success raising a lot of money. I am a good friend in helping her out.

What was amazing about recording her out in public were the people that knew who she was. People would approach her by complimenting her how good of a singer she is. One person that approach her called her the voice of Castro. Others call her the face of Castro. She is what makes Castro at night great. She has a great voice and she does delight the people that walk pass by her while she is singing.

I have found videos of my friend performing in the Castro on YouTube, Vine, and Instagram. There are some great photos and videos that I have found but I will admit mines are much better. If you have seen what I have taken on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube it proves that I am amazing on what I do. I know the videos that I have done for my friend will be great for her Kickstarter campaign.

Who is this famous woman that I am talking about will be remain nameless but you’re curious to know who she is just send me a message and I will tell you.

Off the Grid Needs Me

A Off the Grid blog that I did from January 2014
Why I deserve to be Off the Grid

About two years ago I wrote a blog about why I deserve to work with Off the Grid. I put a lot into writing the blog and explain my reason why I think I deserve to work with them. Two years later I am doing my follow up on the blog.

Off the Grid Lake Merritt

2016 I am going toward my third year attending Off the Grid markets. My first Off the Grid market was in May 2013 when they launch the Serremonte market on Tuesday. Over the past year they have expanded their markets across the Bay Area. They launch a Hilldales market October 2015 and a Novato market in July 2014. As of January 2016 they have over 45 markets scattering across the Bay Area ranging from Sunnyvale to Concord. I have seen markets come and go. The best Off the Grid market that I love that is not around anymore was the market in Berkeley off of Telegraph and Haste on Monday Night.

Off the Grid El Cerritto

Why do I deserve to work with a growing company is because I am aware of the markets on how it can improve. I have gone to plenty of the markets and I have gotten to know the musicians and food truck vendors. What starting to be interesting as of late are musicians an food truck vendor coming up to me asking which markets are the best one to attend. I give them an honest answer and tell them. I am aware of what markets are good and which one are not good. I have notice how they launch a market and plenty of people come but when the weeks passes by the less people attend the market and it affects the sales for the food trucks. Off the Grid does try to promote contest for their markets to grab attention. What the company use to do was to create a Facebook event in which people would say that they are coming or can not attend. That was the attention grabber that caught my attention when I log onto Facebook. Off the Grid does send out emails to people that subscribe to them and Facebook subscription. They also list where the markets are at each day including the trucks that are there. My only thing that I could think of how they can aware people about them is keep on promoting themselves. They just need to market themselves by having cities promote them. I have seen city newsletters, Facebook, and even Instagram promote Off the Grid. When a city promote Off the Grid people are aware that there is a market in their city. My only suggestion on what Off the Grid needs to be doing.

Starting 2016 The Right Direction

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I want to start fresh for 2016. I do not want to make the same mistake that I did for 2015 even though there were good experience as well. Here what I want to do to start the new year to a great start.

Here are great stuff that I did for 2015:

I met a great musician Shawn Megofna. His cover of Ed Sheeran is amazing. I only have seen him perform at Off the Grid (North Berkeley, Hayward, Alameda, Walnut Creek, and Fort Mason). He had a great crowd at the Fort Mason Off the Grid in which I manage to get a great video of his performance. He is an establish musician and was feature in a TFC program.

I became a great friend to Lily Holbrook. She is a great musician which I have attended her performance in the Bay Area. I got the chance to hang out with her while she was not performing. It was different hanging out with a musician because I treated her as a normal person…beside giving her the royal service treatment. I acted like a gentleman and not a creep by being an obsessed fan just to hit on her. She is a great friend and I do not want to ruin our friendship. I almost ruin it but I did apologize for my action. She did accept my apology and we became much better friends.

Here are stuff I need to do for 2016:

I am in the process in looking for a new job. My current job is not well. I felt that the company that I work with does not care for their employee. I want to be in a company that if I feel uncomfortable they would do something about it. I been with them for nine years. It is time for me to find a job that I have qualification. I have a good job experience and I also have a college degree. I know that I can get that job if I keep on applying, get the interview and get the job. There should be nobody trying to prevent me from getting it. I am going to stay positive and just do it until it happens.

Let hope 2016 treats me well. Wish me luck everyone.
