SFSU Spring 2012

I survive the first week of the Spring Semester at San Francisco State University. Luckily my first day of class was not the day that the semester began. The Ethnic Studies and Asian American Studies Department were celebrating Chinese New Year on Monday. They cancel every class in that department to celebrate the New Year. I did not have to come in. Thankfully one of my professors send me an e-mail Sunday Afternoon.

The first day of class on Wednesday was great. I have a cool professor that seems easy going. He is young and wants his students to feel comfortable with the class. I check out the reading schedule. It does not seem hard to do the reading. All I have to do when I come to class is be prepare to take the quiz and make sure I did the reading for that day. He quizzes us to make sure that the students did the reading. I am not sure if it will be multiple choices or write a sentence on the reading. I will not know until Monday when I take the first quiz.

My other class does not start until Monday Afternoon. I was told that the professor that I am taking is good. She seems to know how to treat her students well. The assignment she gives to her students are well detail and not hard to understand. There are professors on campus that don’t care about their students. They have strict ways of teaching the courses. There are some professors that don’t mention the reading in the class and just ramble about subjects that are not involve with the class. I have had those types of professors at SFSU. I just want to have professors that are dedicated to their students and have a passion of the subject that they teach.

The new J. Paul Leonard Library open the first day of the semester. It is not completely finish yet. It is only open for students who want to study. There are no computers set up nor are there any books on the shelf. The inside of the building is great. They are planning to put in a café so students can have a nice drink while they are doing their work. What is also good about this building is that there are going hold performances (concerts, speech debate) and club meetings inside. I hope that the students do not trash the new building. It is horrible what people do when a new building opens up to the public.

Wish me luck on a good Spring Semester.

PlayStation 3 with a Bigger Hard Drive

I spend the entire Friday figuring out how to install a 250 GB hard drive on a PlayStation 3. It took me dozen of YouTube video and downloading the software for PlayStation 3 and I finally have a PlayStation 3 that has a bigger hard drive that works.

I bought a 250 GB on the internet for $49.99. Fry’s Electronics and Best Buy did not have any small hard drive. Lot of the hard drive in stores these days are 1TB and over. I originally wanted to install a 640 GB hard drive but I felt that was too big to put on my PlayStation 3. I rarely download a lot of games, video, nor music.

What is my plan to do with that 640GB hard drive? I’ll store the music, pictures, and video that I have on my Compaq and MacBook notebook. I want to back up the data that I have on both of my notebook computer.

Thank goodness I have a PlayStation 3 that has the same exact space that my brand new Xbox 360 has. Now I have two game system that has 250GB hard drive. It is time to download video games off the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.

Ready and Prepare For Anything

I start the Spring Semester at San Francisco State University on Monday. I have not gotten my books yet. Luckily my class does not start until 11:10. I’ll be on campus before 7:30. I want to beat the crowd before it becomes too crazy to get books. Thankfully I wake up early and make it on campus before the side streets is hard to find parking.

The main reason I wake up early is to get street parking. I refuse to pay for parking in the garage. They raise the price to $6 the entire day which I find a major rip off. For one-two hour is $3. The past semester that I been at San Francisco it was $1 an hour and $5 for the entire day. They raise the price of tuition and they raise the price to pay in the parking garage. I wish they would invest in creating parking permit for the semester compare to paying for it daily.

I bought a brand new XBOX 360 (my old 360 died). I love my new 360. It is light compare to the old one. It is much smaller and easy to store in between the Blu-Ray player and the PlayStation 3. Luckily I was able to find a 360 that I can afford. I did not have to sell all of my 360 games. I would not get much if I did sell all of my games.

Now I am debating if I want to get a new PlayStation 3. It is tempting to have a new game system. I don’t own a Nintendo Wii. It is just that since I got a brand new XBOX 360 I might as well get a brand new PlayStation 3. The only problem is that I don’t play much on either one. I just have it because I have family friends and relatives who love to play video games. It is a good when I have people over and they would like to play games with me.

I am ready and prepare for the semester to begin and for any guest that come over the house and want to play video games on either the PlayStation 3 or XBOX 360.

I Still Play Video Games

I own two video game console - Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Both of the system are the latest console out in the. The PS3 plays blu-ray disc which the 360 only does DVD. I use both of them as a blu-ray/dvd player at home. I have the accessories like Playstation Move and the Kinect. Why am I doing a blog about video game system?

Just recently I notice my 360 been freezing up on certain games (I notice it when I was playing WWE 12). I check out the Xbox 360 website to troubleshot my system. The site said to move my system to an open area which sorta work. It also said to delete files that are unwanted or replace my hard drive. I even went to Gamestop to get another opinion. They told me to vacuum around the 360 and I have a choice to replace my hard drive. If I chose to upgrade the hard drive on my 360 the problem is that I worry about is the games that I downloaded from Xbox Live.

I been debating to upgrade my PS3 hard drive. i have a 500GB hard drive that I want to use from a old Mac Mini. I seen Youtube video on how to do it. It should not be hard to replace the hard drive. The only problem I worry is losing the data from the old drive. I got games that I downloaded from Playstation Network that I don’t want to lose.

Not much of a good blog for this week. Next Friday I’ll have something better to say.

Off Academic Probation

I am very happy right now. I just found out recently from San Francisco State University that I am off academic probation (it took me at least a year to get off). It was a struggle to improve my GPA and do well in my classes.

My first semester at San Francisco I got a C- which made my GPA 1.70. I originally had three courses but I withdrew two of them. I try to increase it the following semester but I drop all my classes to avoid having it lower even further. My third semester I took four courses. The grades I got was “B”, “C”, “D”, and “F”. That made my GPA lower down to 1.48. I requested admission to allow me to continue at San Francisco for my fourth semester. All I had to do was to increase my GPA to a 2.0. It took two semester and “A’s” & “B’s” to get it up to 2.02. Thankfully I work my butt off to get it up.

I mention my accomplishment to my co-workers. What was funny is that I show off my transcript to them. They were impressed that I did it. It shows that I can achieve higher if I put my effort toward it.

I hate when people say that I cannot accomplish anything, which is mess up. I have to think positive and ignore the negativity that people say about me. I have dealt with people that say harsh things that I cannot do it. What rights do these people have to say that to me? People should not be doing that to others.

My goal for Spring 2012 is go the distance and get an “A” in all my classes. I am not going to get “C”, “D”, or “F” anymore. I refuse to fail anymore. Sine the tuition at San Francisco increase I have to bust my tail harder to finish soon. I want to move onto better things in life.

2011 Was Great To Me

It has been a long time since I posted a blog. I been very busy and I have not had any time to think of anything to post up. I’ll try my best to post up a blog every Friday.

2011 was good for me. I ended up the year by increasing my GPA at San Francisco State University. I am happy to tell you that I have a 2.02 GPA. I did not get a “C”, “D”, or “F” grade. I was pretty surprise that the classes that I took in 2011 I got “A’s” and “B’s”. The studying did pay off. What my goal is for 2012 is to not slack off last minute, do the assignment ahead of schedule, and to increase my GPA even further. I refuse to fail any courses and graduate from college. It will take a lot of effort and money to pay for it (tuition is a rip off).

2011 was the year that I celebrated my five year anniversary at Sam’s Club. I did not expect to last that long at Sam’s Club. I was expected to move onto better things like get a job at Costco finally. I did get my interview at Costco in 2009 but they were not hiring for a position that I wanted. Luckily I was able to move form Jewelry to Photo within two years. I am glad where I am at now. My job did give me a certificate for my dedication with the company (I just wish it said Sam’s Club instead of Wal-Mart).

Lastly 2011 was good to my health. My cholesterol went down quite a bit thanks to exercise and Lipitor. I been eating healthy and avoided the awful food.

Let 2012 be better for me on good grades, achieve more to life, and more to celebrate.
