Long Time Photographer Enjoying His Passion

I have been doing photography for 14 years. Most of the pictures that I have taken were publish in the school’s newspaper or my website. Have I thought I would be doing this for a long time? I did not think this would last for a very long time. Within the years of my photography experience I have done black & white film and now I am using a digital SLR camera which I own two of the best brand name cameras.

My brother let me use his camera when I first took a class at my high school in 1996. I was only going to take the class for one year but I decided to take an advance course the following year. What surprise me was that the high school newspaper was looking for a photographer for the next year which I took the position. It took me to new heights which got the college newspaper to recruit me. Afterward the photography has taken me to great heights.

I got a job selling cameras at the Good Guys my first year in college in 1999. It was an alright experience. I didn’t enjoy working there since I had to learn how to sell video products like televisions. Nine years later in May of 2009 I got promoted to photo at Sam’s Club. It stuck me because I did not expect to be move into a department that I was familiar with especially I only knew how to develop black & white film. Luckily it was an easy job to do since they had machines that would develop the color film. I also knew my cameras since I work at the Good Guys.

Do I enjoy photography? Yes I love photography. Do I love helping people with photography? I love helping people but I have to get away with ones that get on my nerves. I’m sorry but there are people that abuse me. They always rely on me with my help. I show them how to do it but they still ask for my help.

I do want to be a photographer at a magazine or newspaper. I know that I would have to travel around the area taking pictures. I even want to have my own photo studio where people would allow me to take a picture of them. I want my pictures to be recognized by others. It is a passion that I love to do.
